i've done some horrible things to copia in the notes app but i draw the line at giving him a hip replacement. so my personal hc for his cane situation — disregarding the alternative of him taking one onstage just for the vibes — is that he developed early onset osteoarthritis from ballet and began to manage it. the rats mv was the last time he danced properly, then after the threat of replacement, it was strict physiotherapy and steroid injections until the cane wasn't as necessary as it once was. you can get footwear designed to help with oa, so i'm sliding the shoe moment from rhrn into this self-indulgent ramble ('i'll get injured' = 'things will be worse for me later'). he'll jump around the stage as often as he dares to the frustration of doctors and his mother — and his ghouls, who will help him limp offstage at every show towards the end of the tour and take care of him after treatments. limited movement frustrates him to no end but he'll put on a mask of cheery positivity until he's too tired to maintain it any longer. he'll manage it to the point where it's easier to live with than it was when he danced for the last time, but it'll never be like it was when he was young. he struggles with this more than he does the physical pain. who'd want a reminder of their imminent demise burning at their side with every step? still, he pretends, even if it's obvious to everyone close to him that it's a problem — no need to give them any more reason to end his reign earlier than he'd like

On Wednesday before I gave my presentation I confessed to a new employee that I was worried it would be too long and she brightly told me her life hack was to just let AI rewrite things for her. She said I should put in all my talking points and ask ChatGPT to give me a five minute exactly presentation. I was like....how is the most polite possible way (since this is a new colleague I shouldn't get off on the wrong foot with) that I can express that I will Not be taking this advice. Ever. I told her that I didn't think we were allowed to use ChatGPT at this job (we most certainly are not, it is a nightmare for any type of protected information) and also that I prefer to write all of my own work. Despite my best efforts the last part of that was still passive aggressive, lol.

Something about being a writer makes it so that it's almost offensive to me for someone to suggest I use AI to do my work instead? Like, the day I reach the point where I let AI write something for me is the day y'all need to be checking me for brain damage because clearly I'm losing it

Like, if merlin is (or was) a human, their childhood was so long ago that it's just become either, too irrelevant to be remember or too far gone to even begin remembered

If merlin was NOT a human, then their existence was born out nothing and will never have it, they don't have a beginning just like how they don't have an end. (yes this seem a bit far more of a reach but hey a food of thought)

But if they were a human, that means with each amnesiac episode merlin not only lost memory, but also sense of identity, every. single. time.

And that somehow even more tragic to think about,,, no wonder Satrana can't see anything, what there to see if you can't even pin point where your life start? When you live as countless of different person? What there to see really if you're made of a myth?

Those thoughts kinds eating my brain rn,,, each cycle or each amnesiac episodes it's like merlin born anew , and that's very fucked up cuz he could forgot himself and everyone again the next day...

okay I finally carved a couple of hours to begin playing Skyward Sword, and it's wild how many thoughts I got hit with almost immediately. In no particular order:

the soundtrack is really good

it is so wildly interesting how much it feels like both botw and totk are kind of a do-over of what they tried to do with ss gameplay-wise but couldn't quite pull off at the time, but all the open world yearning is there, boiling under the surface and ready to overflow (and you can kind of feel how constrained the gameplay feel by the old formula, as I much as I love it. I completely understand the need for pushing the boundaries a little bit already)

the characters and world are very charming honestly, shoutout to the vendor in skyward loft who's so excited about you/so disappointed when you leave empty-handed

SS Link is, by far, the most himbo Link has ever been to me. I don't know if it's something about his face or his animations, but the strong-helpful-a-little-simple vibes are off the chart with this one

Zelda is really cute!

I love the soft environmental worldbuilding!! like the characters' bedroom, the hints of what life and culture is like here... It's something I really missed in TotK, to compare the skybound people with the newer, shinier (literally) skybound people --how barren their ruins are, how they have literally nothing to say about the people who once lived in them...

okay so playing this game, aka the game right before botw which, while being older isn't that old and is available on modern consoles to play right now, and then hearing the take "zelda was never about the story" feels downright insane to me now. Like, it always felt insane to me, but now I'm like... okay so you guys haven't played anything beyond Breath of the Wild. This is actually what's going on, right? Because playing around 2 hours of SS, I'd even argue there is *too much story* at the moment, and I barely got an opportunity to play properly...
